BRANTFORD, ONT. — The Ontario government has announced it is spending $16 million on upgrades and repairs at Brantford General Hospital.

To support repairs to the hospital’s damaged utility services tunnel, the government is providing the Brant Community Healthcare (BCHS) system $9 million in one-time funding to reroute key utility services out of the tunnel, stated a recent release. The government is also spending $6.3 million to help the hospital replace and upgrade three failed boilers.

The new funding is in addition to the $7.3 million the government has allocated to BCHS’s boiler replacement project.

BCHS is the primary acute care facility serving Brantford, the County of Brant, Six Nations of the Grand River, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and surrounding communities.

Minister of Health Sylvia Jones stated, “This investment will enable Brant Community Healthcare System to address priority infrastructure needs so patients and their families can continue to access vital services and care in their community.”
