Ontario beefs up spending for Juravinski Hospital redevelopment

HAMILTON — The Ontario government has announced it is investing $10 million to support the , building on its previous $7.5 million funding announcement.

According to a release, the redevelopment is the single-largest health infrastructure project in Hamilton Health Sciences’ history.

Juravinski Hospital will become the largest inpatient hospital facility in south central Ontario, with more than 500 inpatient beds.

The project includes:

  • A new patient care tower that will add over 100 new inpatient beds in single-patient rooms to the facility, providing 70 per cent more space for patient care.
  • Renovated and expanded infrastructure to support a planned increase in outpatient care and support programs such as general and orthopedic surgery, adult cancer, intensive care and general medicine.
  • A modernized emergency department.
