On this week’s episode of the Construction Record podcast, Journal of Commerce staff writer Russell Hixson speaks with BC Trucking Association president and CEO Dave Earle about supply chain challenges including transporting construction material to worksites.
Earle said eighty per cent of capacity was lost when Highways 1, 3, and 5 were damaged due to the recent B.C. floods. Trucks have had to move into and out of the United States to transport material to the Lower Mainland which introduces significant delays to schedules and reduces how many deliveries can be made.
Supply chain issues and adapting to COVID mean not only is it difficult to find drivers but also trucks to put them in, Earle added.
