VANCOUVER — Vancouver Coun. Rebecca Bligh has been appointed as the new president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM).
“On behalf of the Vancouver City Council, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to councillor Rebecca Bligh on her appointment as president of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities,” says Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim in a statement. “Rebecca’s dedication to our community and her unwavering commitment to addressing the critical issues we face make her an outstanding representative for our city at the national level. Her leadership will undoubtedly bring valuable insights and a strong voice for Vancouver and municipalities across Canada. We are proud to have her represent us and look forward to the positive impact she will make in this new role.”
Since 2018, Bligh has served as a director for the FCM and as a table officer and chair of governance for the past three years.
Since being appointed to the FCM, Bligh has served on multiple committees including community safety and crime protection, municipal infrastructure and social economic development, a release reads.
