Aberdeen bridge demolition set for end of October

WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s Ministry of Municipal and Northern Relations has confirmed the demolition of Aberdeen Bridge near Flin Flon, Man. will begin by the end of October and be completed in November, weather permitting.

Quarry Bay Road in the Millwater area of the Lake Athapapuskow cottage subdivision will also be permanently closed.

Official notice of the bridge and road closure was issued in December 2023 due to safety concerns and a public notice has been posted at the quarry road since the road was closed.

A tender has been successfully awarded for the decommissioning of the bridge and road and the ministry continues to collaborate with the Little Athapap Cottage Owners Association along with cottagers and local residents to ensure a suitable alternate access point for local residents in the remote Lake Athapapuskow cottage area near Millwater, a release said.
